Liesel's life represents beauty in the wake of brutality because of the relationships she has with others. Her family is gone, she transitions into a new home, finds Max (or maybe I should say he finds her).
Max's arrival is just one more proof positive that the Hubermanns are exceptional people. From them, Liesel learns the importance of moral decisions vs safe decisions (those of inaction). When the rest of the world fall a part, and no matter what happens.... Liesel approaches life with dignity and perseverance...... she never gives up and never becomes jaded; that's what enhances the beauty of her story.
