The Book Thief
How is the Holocaust represented in the book?
Whether this be through the Setting (Nazi Germany), Perspective (death, through the eyes of Liesel) or the book itself.

The Holocaust is presented largely through setting and character. We are show processions of marching Jews through the streets of the town. Death often comments on his workload largely as a result of the Holocaust. Death is working overtime collecting souls of dead Jews from the gas showers. He releases them into eternity; hence the sky is filled with "the colour of Jews". Max laments the loss of his family to the Holocaust.
