How would you compare Granny's experience of death with her jilting by George 60 years before?

Granny doesn't seem very happy. Her death seems to share a similar bitterness as she felt when she was jilted by George. She is cranky and almost abusive to Cornelia, the one daughter that seems to care about her the most.
