What are the good and bad things about Max?

I think Max is absolutely awesome; the only negative thing I see in his character is the fact that he walks around feeling guilty all the time...... this beautiful young man feels guilt over his family, putting other people in dager (who want to help him), and feels guilty simply because he's alive. To me, that's his only fault.

Max is scrappy and a survivor. He cares deeply for the Hubermans and Liesel. He refuses to be a burden on them. Max is sensitive and articulate, he even writes books to Liesel. Max however has a temper and can be impulsive without thinking.
