Why do you supposed the narrator did not reveal what happened to liesel in the years between her reunion with max and the time of her death?

I don't think the story is really concerned with this. The details of this would have been part of another life that Liesel had. I think this would have complicated the story and taken away from the themes Zusak was trying to get across.
