Why do you think the Hubermanns insisted that Liesel call them “Mamma” and Pappa”?

The Hubermanns really wanted Liesel to feel like she has a home with adults who care about her. They also wanted authorities to believe she was their natural born daughter rather than a girl adopted from parents who resisted the Nazi regime.
