what contrasts does Bruno notice between the train his family board and the one on the other side of the platform? What similarities are there?

Bruno sees a two trains going in the same direction. The one farther away looks as if sad people are reluctant to get on. The train also looks much worse than his train. Bruno wonders why some of the sad passengers do not come on his train. I think this is an early clue for Bruno that something is not quite right with situation.
