What Shmuel said?

Bruno thought that Shmuel came from Germany, as he had responded to his hello in German rather than Polish. Shmuel went onto tell Bruno how his mother, a teacher, had taught him German and wanted to teach him English someday too. Bruno's reaction to his statement prompted him to question, "That's not as good as Germany, is it?". He also noted that Germans were superior, something he had heard his father and grandfather discussing.
