Honestly, unless I am completely missing something, I don't see this theme in the story. I'm not an expert in feminist theory though.
The girls in the family ate separately from the boys. They could not eat with the father; no one could ask or talk about the mother's pregnancy; the girls did not go to school and could not run errands like William. It was a total matriarchal society.
