Define Holden and what he represents and explain why he is the way he is?

Holden is a typical teen nearly on the edge of adulthood struggling with what it means to grow up. He is traumatized by the death of his brother, is simply "sent away" by his parents who do not know how to handle him, and wants to have "adult" experiences (hiring a prostitute for example) but does not know how to handle all of the responsibilities that go with being an adult.
