At the end of Chapter 18, Holden discusses war. Throughout the book, Holden also suffers occasionally from a make-believe "gut wound" of sorts. What can you tell about his feelings on war and fighting?

Although Holden is a little crazy, until I read this passage I would have never taken him as a war supporter.

I don't really know what draws him war personally, but at the time going to war to support your nation was the popular thing to do.

Perhaps the idea of fighting feels "manly" to him.
