The Catcher in the Rye
What makes Holden so relatable as a narrator?
Whether you like him or not?
Whether you like him or not?
I think there is a bit of Holden in all of us. We are aware of the massive hypocrisy in the world, we part of it. Most of us merely live with it and chalk it up to part of life. Holden refuses to do this and we admire him for it, sort of. For myself, Holden speaks to the "phoniness" of people including myself. I like tat about him. At the same time he is an extremely flawed individual which makes him real. Holden is a charismatic narrator who I know is unreliable, this makes the story interesting and entertaining.
