The play is written in an anti-realist style as a play within a play. It is a frame play based upon a parable. Brecht used simple language in the dialogue, it reads very much like a fairy tale.

main play is of the dispute between THE FRUIT FARMERS AND THE GOAT HERDERS,play within a play is of Grusha and Michael, Azdak the judge and the old peasant woman and the other play is of Michael and the other kids who foeshadows the killing of The Fat Prince.....satire is of Natella who does not have time for poor beggers and her servants, Lavrenti"s wife who is religeous but cold towards Grusha, the monks immorality towards religeon..etc...songs..used as a narative technique eg by singer and Grusha. irony,eg the noble child. his doctors abandons him in times of trouble
