Define the basic values of Mme. Ranevskaya and Lopahin. Compare and contrast the value systems that these two characters exemplify. Anyone figure this one out? I'm stumped.
Ranevskakya has a good heart and loves others; she believes in generosity and kindness. Unfortunately, her generous spirit is no longer compatable with her impoverished state.
Lopakhin is loyal, especially to Ranevskaya, who showed him kindness....... on the other hand, his actions (buying the orchard, failing to propose to Varya), also show the exact opposite. He is a contradicdiction to be sure.
