Q: At the end of Chapter 3, David's nightmare shows us that this young lad is beginning to understand the dark side of his father's belief in the evil of Blasphemy. Explain how David's dream does this.
David has a dream at the end of the Chapter where he remembers Sophie as a Deviant and dreams that she becomes helpless like a sheep led to the slaughter and it is his father that kills Sophie with a knife. David is somewhat relieved to realize at the end that what he saw was but a dream. The dream, however, gives David context into the narrow minded, violent, and ruthless side to his father and his father's religion.
