Ruth grew up in a srict Jewish home. Her father was was racist, as well as verbally abusive to her mother. Ruth, on the other hand, was an also an object of his abuse.... sexual abuse. Later in life, after Ruth made her final cut from the family, she often embraced her Jewish roots.
Ruth's reaction to her childhood experiences was rebellion.... one example of this rebellion would be her relationships and subsequent marriages to black men.
