Does James question about his religion in the book?

I think religion was always a lens that James saw through his mother's eyes. Growing up, Christianity was so important to Ruth, it was like air. James grew up around it and assimilated it into himself as a child. I don't think he goes looking for Judaism as much as he goes looking for his roots which happen to include parts of what his mother left behind, like Judaism.
