Does Ruth’s treatment of her children amount to abuse or neglect? Why or why not?

Ruth treated her children with nothing but love. She was tough.... she made them work, was relentless in her desire for them to garner the best possible education, and she exposed them to different cultures.... what "abuse" are you alluding to?
