The Color of Water

How do Ruth and James relate to the religions Judaism and Christianity? Do they change they attitudes? If so, why?

I have to write two paragraphs focusing on Judaism and Christianity.

I think Ruth had a balancing act to do hear. Although Jewish, she became a born again Christian. She however found her roots to be important. Her "Jewishness" was still a part of their identity. The importance of school and the church was instilled in each of the children, and they were strongly disciplined and well-loved. Ruth insisted that they go to Jewish public schools and perform well, as they were the "token" black students in the classrooms. As each of the children grew older, Ruth insisted that they go away for school so that they could learn to survive and flourish.
