The Color of Water
what are some problems happening in this book? how do you predict these problems will be resolved? why?

There are so many different plot points and conflicts in this book, it is difficult to know where to begin. I suppose the main thing I would wonder is if James's struggle to come to terms with his racial identity and background ever gets resolved. I also recall worrying about how his mother Ruth would navigate the complex path she chose in life. I have read the book so I have to think back to what I might have thought. I hoped that as the years went by and James matured, he would begin to see past skin colour and do the best he could with what he had been dealt.
