How does Celie change over the course of the novel?

Celie begins her diary entries when she is fourteen years old and ends when she is forty-four. I read this quite awhile ago and it is pretty sad. After being raped by her father and beaten by her husband she does find solace in God but not in the same way she did when she was a child. There is, of course, more detail to this.
