anyone see the movie?

The movie is terrible compared to the book. They tried to make it into a love story between Dantes and Mercedes, but had to twist the plot of the ending so much that they lost the entire point of the book's ending as a result. Not to give away the plot of the movie, but getting Mercedes and Dantes back together at the end was pretty lame.

The version starring Richard Chamberlin is a GREAT version!!!! The one with Jim Cavezil (sp) is simply Hollywood's severely warped version of the story. Names and the first two minutes are about the only accurate parts of it.

The 1999 version with Gérard Depardieu is excellent.
