How is Abbe a father figure to Dantes?

Dante and the Abbe share many things. They both enjoy language and learning.... the Abbe becomes Dantes' mentor. Over the years, the become even close, and the Abbe shares the secret of the treasure, something he would never have done if he hadn't loved him like a father.
