The Crucible

Insight gained by Elizabeth and John Proctor & Reverend Hale

I'm trying to write an essay on the insight that these three characters gain throughout the story.

Reverend Hale learns that his attack on witches isn't quite what he believed it would be; he gains a whole new perspective on people in general. He specialized in "witchcraft" per se, and went to Salem to eradicate it in the name of God. He learned that his reasons and purpose may have been in the right, but that his one mindedness was not as it should be.

Elizabeth and John learned a lot about the character and morality of other people, and they both learned a lot about themselves in terms of the actions of the people around them them, but most importantly they learned to admit and deal with their own mistakes; something that brought them back to each other.
