This is a pretty involved question for this short space. There is a lot of thematic ground to cover. Suspicion, revenge, hypocrisy, and scapegoating are just a few. Certain characters represent different parts of society. John Proctor is a Christ figure while rev. Paris is a symbol corruption in the church.
