The Crucible
The Crucible Act IV (4)
If you had to pick a side by Act IV when Hale realizes that he has made grievous error, do you think that Hale encourages Proctor to confess primarily because of his guilt or his concern for proctor's life?

That's a good question. Hale is a passionate man. I think he sees this trait in Proctor as well. I think your answer overlaps between your choices. If I had to pick one, I would side with Hale's guilt. He knows he is responsible for many innocent people being executed by a self-serving court. Hale has blood on his hands and he is determined not to have Proctor's blood added to his guilt.
