I assume that you are referring to the 1996 movie release. I think plays are always better seen than just read. I liked this version of the Crucible. What became especially clear to me was John Proctor's existential angst at the end of the play. It's one thing to read "all I have is my name" but when Daniel Day Lewis has snot, sweat, and tears running down his face, there is a definite difference. That moment became real to me in a way it had not when I just read it.
