In Act Three Proctor brings Mary Warren.
In Act Three Proctor brings Mary Warren.
Proctor has brought Mary Warren to court to confess that she has never seen any spirits. He also brings her deposition that states all of the girls are making up the accusations.
The court will not allow the deposition and questions Procter as to his motivation for coming forth with Mary Warren at this time. Proctor states that he hopes that by bringing the girls deceptions to light, it will free his wife, Elizabeth.
Danforth and Cheever believe that Proctor wants to overthrow the court proceedings, and attempt to discredit him by using his poor attendance in the church.
