What was the "sign" that Betty was bewitched?

Betty's coma trance-like state is the sign that she is bewitched.

When a psalm is sung in hearing range, when the words "going up to Jesus" are heard, Betty suddenly claps her ears repeatedy and whines and screams loudly. Parris and the others take this as a sign because witches cannot stand to hear the Lords name.
