Abigail has "flown the coup", so to speak. This exposes her as lier and discredits Paris. So, there is little remorse in Paris's pleadings for a stay in the executions. Parris is also scared because hee found a dagger in his front door, and is afraid that if respectable citizens like John Proctor and Rebecca Nurse are hanged, the town will revolt. Paris even starts to blubber like a baby, not because of all the suffering he has caused, but because Abigail stole his money before she left.
