Why does Rev. Hale come to the Proctor’s home?

Reverend Hale arrives at Proctor's home to tell the family that Elizabeth has been accused. He also questions Proctor about his churchgoing habits, the reason that one of his son's hasn't been baptized, and he asks Proctor to recite the Ten Commandments.
