2. We are often told that being logical and rational is the most sensible way to approach problems. How does the novel show us that this isn’t always the case?

Christopher's autism allows him to think "outside of the box." He sees the world with connections that non-autistic people often miss. He spends his mental energy on ideas that he cares about. He is ambitious and wants to be a scientist. He is interested in the stars and science and the universe and by the end of the novel manages to take his A-level in maths. He also has a unique empathy to animals. He also sees past the social nuances of society, they just don't register with him, to actually see truth.
