The Death of Ivan Ilych

Ivan's life was ordinary in that he was the son of a bureaucrat, he studied law, he admired those of high station and desired to be like them. Ivan went to work, got married, went to job interviews, suffered disappointments and enjoyed moving up in his chosen occupation. He also had accidents, lived with pain, and eventually died a painful death. All of these things are common..... thus, ordinary.
