How do you predict this radical shift in setting might affect Hannah as a person?

I think Hannah is initially shocked at the magical transformation to 1940's Poland. Her setting is much more rough and stressful. Survival is what Hannah is discovering. She is getting a new appreciation of what Jews went through and what her Grandfather was raving about in front of the television at Seder.
