What is the "modern" Hannah's attitude towards her family and the Jewish culture at the beginning of the movie and why?

The "modern" Hannah has no interest in her family's Jewish traditions and does not want to go to the seder. While there, she compensates for her boredom by drinking too much wine and getting sick before being swept through time into the past.
