What is the setting of your book? How does the setting impact the plot(events) that take place?

The Devil's Arithmetic is set in Poland (1942), during WWII. Hannah's (Chaya's) transport into this time moves the plot, as she is thrown into the midst of the Nazi atrocities toward the Jewish people.
