Do you agree that the understanding of the context and background is important for the understanding of the feelings of Anne Frank as described in 'The diary of a Young girl'?

Certainly understanding the historical context of Anne's life is vital to understanding her diary. WW2, the Holocaust, and the Jewish experience during that time add to the very meaning of what Ann writes. Knowing the historical context helps the reader establish the setting and human conflicts before our teenage protagonist begins her diary. We already understand the horrors of what Anne and the people in her flat are up against should they be discovered.
