Miep is a Dutch woman who put her life on the line for the members of the annex. She brings them food, clothing, books, and companionship despite the very real danger that she could easily be caught and killed by the Nazis. Miep could have lived a safe comfortable life though the war but she helped the members of the annex instead. Along with Elli, she retrieves and saves Anne's diary from the floor after the annex residents are arrested.
