On July 6, 1942, Anne's family moved into a factory owned by Christian friends. They lived there for the next two years, along with a number of other people who joined them. Anne did not like this change. Life changed completely; food was scarce, no movement during work hours, no more school, no more friends. She lived a normal life before going into hiding; she went to school, parties, loved clothes, and was just beginning to be interested in boys.
