"War is the major theme through Anne's diary ?" Comment.

I don't personally see war as a main theme in the novel, I would cite it as a secondary theme. None-the-less, it would be impossible not to see how the war affected Anne, her family, and the other residents in the novel. Their need for the safety the annex provided wouldn't have been necessary had their been no war.... no Hiltler, and no anti-Semitism.

During their stay in the annex, Anne became very interested in the war. She kept up with news, and paid special attention to predictions for the future. In Anne's final entries, the war predominates her world.... her hopes, and her dreams for the future.
