What are the symbols used in the diary of Anne Frank?

There are quite a few symbols. People often become symbolic in the book. Consider Anne’s grandmother who appears to Anne in her dreams. When Anne thinks of her grandmother, she pictures unconditional love as well as a more peaceful time before the war. Hanneli also appears in Anne's dreams.
