Bosola uses soliloquy to interact and communicate with the audience. This enables him to convey his feelings, thoughts, and intent directly to those who will act as his most important judges..... us (the audience).
The Duchess uses solilioquy for the same purpose, although many purport that Bosola is the only character to address the audience in this way. Shortly after speaking with her brothers, the Duchess does in fact, address the audience with her own thoughts. She tells the men what she believes they want to hear (that she will not remarry) and thinks (aloud);
"If all my royal kindred
Lay in my way unto this marriage
I'll'd make them my low foot-steps."
