What is the main message of the gilgamesh epic ?

Gilgamesh's best friend is Enkidu. When he dies Gilgamesh sees no purpose in living life all becuase he is scared to die. He goes on a long journey in search of everlasting life but insted realizes that everlasting life is no longer an option for him. He realizes that he must live each day as it is and do his best to rule as the wise and just king of Uruk. He comes to terms that his destiny is to be great on earth, not in a life of immortality, and he appreciates what he can do as a mortal king.
