he title certainly foreshadows the ending. The ending of the story has the House of Usher literally crumbling to pieces. The earth is shaking, the ceiling is falling and the walls are collapsing. It is all very dark and gothic. The narrator's description of the house also foreshadows its demise. The House of Usher is, like its occupant, in bad shape. It has not been cared for and is deteriorating.
