Much like Fall of the Hose of Usher, Ligeia relies on some scary gothic imagery to shroud his story with dark tones and mood. The dying of both the narrator's wives and subsequent ghostly resurrection parallels that of Madeline appearance in The Fall of the House of Usher. The narrator is haunted by images of the unnatural afterlife that infect his reality.
