The Fall of the House of Usher
Is "the fall of the House of Usher" a sincere expression of horror or is Poe simply mocking himself and the reader? To what extent can we read his tail as a parody?

Whether or not the story can be seen as a parody is more of an individual thing than anything else. It comes down to a question of how the reader sees Poe's work..... do you see the story as one of terror.... or do you see it as a comical rendition of the scary story.
