“Let the person who is without sin cast the first stone.” Why did Leeza pay special attention to this in church? (Chapter 27)

This line from the Bible serves as a motif throughout the story. Who is to blame when bad things happen? Was it Reef? Was it Reef's tormented past? Was Leeza responsible for her own attitude? I suppose nobody is without sin. Leeza is understanding that blame doesn't help anyone.
