What do we learn about Alex and how does he reach out to Reef? Is he successful? Explain. (Chapter 21-22)

We learn that Alex once tried to take his own life and had the scars to prove it. By showing Reef his scars, Alex is letting him know that he has been in the same place.... felt the same kind of despair and hopelessness. In doing this, he lets Reef know he can tell him whatever he wants.... and Reef does.
