- Eddie meets a young Asian girl named Tala.

-Tala tells Eddie that he killed her in a fire.

-Eddie recognizes her as a as a child he had seen in a burning hut during the war.

-Tala's skin suddenly develops burns and scars.

-Eddie spends hours tending to her wounds.

-Tala allows Eddie to see his destiny was at Ruby Pier safeguarding the children.
