How was his Heaven?

Eddie entrance into Heaven allows him to shed all of his earthly burdens, and in turn, learn how much his life actually meant through encounters with five specific individuals, who died before him. Eddie's initial time in Heaven transforms him from a man who has been alone and bitter far too long into a man with a new appreciation for the true meaning of his life. In the end, he is able to let go of his doubts and enter into his own personal Heaven, where he feels happiness and recognizes the joy he brought to so many families. In his Heaven, Eddie is free from burden.... his soul feels light and lifted high above his earthly prisons, he is set free by his metaphysical catharsis. The children vanish and all he can see is Marguerite, wearing a yellow dress and sitting in a white cart atop a Ferris Wheel, beckoning him with open arms. Finally, “the voices [meld] into a single word from God: Home” (191).
